Facial laceration suturing trainer
A reusable facial suturing trainer designed for practising wound closure on realistic layered tissue.
The model uses soft prosthetic-grade silicone with three distinct tissue layers and underlying skull anatomy, allowing learners to practise suturing on a curved, anatomically shaped surface rather than a flat pad.
Training Applications
Use it to practise:
- Instrument handling
- Simple interrupted sutures
- Continuous sutures
- Subcuticular sutures
- Vertical mattress sutures
- Horizontal mattress sutures
- Skin flap techniques
- Wound closure on curved facial anatomy
Layered Tissue
The facial tissue includes three layers:
- Dermis
- Subcutaneous tissue
- Muscle
Underlying skull sections provide a firmer anatomical boundary beneath the soft tissues.
Reinforced for Repeated Use
Two internal reinforcing mesh layers help strengthen the silicone tissue and reduce tearing during repeated suturing practice.
Anatomical Design
The trainer was developed using MRI and photogrammetry data to create realistic facial proportions and underlying structure.
